The 25-year-old Swedish full-back played 75 minutes in the final, in front of Milan's advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, before being substituted with a cramp feeling. Not so surprising perhaps after being absent from the four previous games.
On the pitch, he got to see his teammate Dan Ndoye score the 1-0 goal in the beginning of the second half. The Swiss showed coolness in the penalty area and put the ball high in the net.
Milan desperately sought an equalizer – but Ndoye's goal would be the match-winner.
Thus, Bologna has taken its first title in 51 years.
Last time they got to lift a trophy was just in the Italian Cup in 1974. Then Palermo was defeated on penalties in the final.
Last year, the club from the Emilia-Romagna region managed to secure Champions League play, for the first time in 60 years, for this year's season. Well, there it was a quick exit in the group stage with only one win.
Now, Bologna has secured at least Europa League play with the cup win. But the team also has a shot at a CL spot with two matches left in Serie A, just two points behind Juventus.
