Emil Holm Criticizes IFK Göteborg Fans for Disrespecting Club Director

Former IFK Göteborg player Emil Holm does not like the behavior of the "Blåvitt" fans. Instead, he supports the club director Håkan Mild. If they get away with this, that Håkan gets to leave, it will disrupt the entire democracy in football, says the Bologna forward.

Parts of the IFK fan base have long demanded Håkan Mild's resignation. But the team's former right-back does not support that part of the "Angels'" supporter base.

I think it's very sad that Håkan gets so much crap, because he's elected by a board and ultimately the members. And I think what the supporters are doing is not right. It's, as I've understood it, a very small "clique" that's doing it. If they get their way and Håkan has to go, it will undermine the entire democracy in football. So I think it's very sad and should stop, says Emil Holm.

The Bologna defender is currently in Stockholm for a gathering with the national football team. He says he still closely follows IFK Göteborg and knows exactly how much commitment Håkan Mild into the Allsvenskan classic club.

I know you can't find a person who has a bigger Blåvit heart than Håkan has, and if you were to bring in a new club director and get everything together again, it would take a year or two before it settles. And now I actually think it looks much, much better on the pitch, so I think you should have ice in your stomach, sit down in the boat and work on, says Holm.

Defeated MFF

After IFK Göteborg suffered three straight losses, the tone from the supporters who had fallen out with Mild increased. The club has also recently reported a "serious threat" to the club director to the police.

Two straight wins, most recently against reigning champion Malmö FF, may have somewhat calmed the situation down.

It's clear that this affects the players. Seeing these banners every match and that they're up at training, it can't be easy for the players either. I think the supporters need to take their responsibility now and accept the situation. I think it's simply disrespectful.
