The former national team star was asked during the broadcast what would happen if national team captain Graham Potter called.
"Then I say no. I haven't announced this to the national team yet, but I will do so after the World Cup," says Emil Forsberg.
The star, who currently plays for MLS club New York Red Bulls, was a key player for the Blues and Yellows for a long time and led the national team to the World Cup quarterfinals in 2018. He played 92 international matches and scored 21 goals for Sweden.
"The Denmark matches (2015), the World Cup itself and scoring goals are great fun. I have a classic quote where I say 'Sweden needs me'; it's fun when you look back," says Forsberg and continues:
"It's been an awesome journey. In that championship (World Cup 2018) I showed the best of me and what I can do. I was one of the best."
Forsberg says he is grateful for everything he has experienced.
"It's something I'll never forget. But I should have scored more goals. The last few years, 2020-2023, I put it into an extra gear; maybe I should have done that earlier."
The 34-year-old was left out by Graham Potter in November last year when Taha Ali was injured. But in the playoff qualifiers and in the World Cup, Forsberg has been given the nod.
"I am happy with over 20 goals in the national team. Before Euro 2021 I felt that no one could stop me. Regardless of what has happened, I am incredibly happy with everything. It is a privilege few get."
In 2021, he won the Guldbollen, the award given to Sweden's best male football player.
