Biathlon star Elvira Öberg was knocked out of the opening mixed relay. Instead, she will make her debut at the Olympics in Italy when the women's distance event takes place on Wednesday.

Elvira Öberg will be joined by her sister Hanna Öberg, Anna Magnusson and Linn Gestblom in the race. This means that Ella Halvarsson and Anna-Karin Heijdenberg will not get the chance to run their first Olympic races.

"We have a very even squad. It was brutally tight between Linn (Gestblom), Ella (Halvarsson) and Anna-Karin (Heijdenberg). Linn had a perfect race when we had a test race against the Germans and she has shown very good form," says national team coach Johannes Lukas at a press conference.

On the men's side, there is the expected team. Sebastian Samuelsson, Martin Ponsiluoma, Jesper Nelin and Viktor Brandt will run the 20-kilometer distance race, which will be decided on Tuesday.
