Elvira Öberg fell ill after the World Championship and refrained from competing last week, the Biathlon Competition in Stockholm and the World Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
But for this week's World Cup competitions in Pokljuka, Slovenia, she is back.
"Elvira has had a mild but prolonged cold after the World Championship and missed important training. Therefore, she will stay home for a few days to train before traveling to Pokljuka and competing in the mass start. The other ladies will do the distance already on Thursday," says head coach Johannes Lukas in a press release.
Öberg won the mass start at the World Championship in Lenzerheide in February and she is second in the mass start cup in the World Cup ahead of the two final competition weeks in Pokljuka and Oslo.
On Thursday, the ladies will run the season's last distance race. There, Ella Halvarsson, the season's big surprise, has a chance for a top placement in the distance cup, where she is third. Halvarsson took silver in the World Championship's distance race.
Due to the weather, the distance race will be shortened. The men will also run a short distance, and the race will be moved to Thursday. The mass starts will be moved to Saturday, and the mixed relay and single mixed relay will be decided instead on Sunday.
