The ultra-runners took a superior Swedish Championship gold in 24-hour running and, just for good measure, set a new impressive Swedish record: 284,669 kilometers. No Swedish runner had previously been close to reaching over 28 miles in a day, the previous record being held by Torbjörn Gyllebring (just over 272 kilometers).

Gyllebring came in third this time (257,854 km) and the silver went to Mikael Gottberg (260,638 km). The latter was the only one, apart from Elov Olsson, who cleared the World Championship qualification limit of 260 kilometers.

On the women's side, Therese Fredriksson, Borås Athletics Club, took her third consecutive Swedish Championship gold with 241,658 kilometers completed. Hanna Bergvall took silver (241,269 km) and Madeleine Wennberg bronze (237,172 km). All of them, as well as fourth-placed Linda Wiese, cleared the World Championship qualification limit of 230 kilometers.

The 24-hour race was decided in Växjö on Saturday-Sunday, on an 820-meter long loop that the runners ran around and around again.
