"I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far," writes Elon Musk on the social network X.

In a series of posts on social media last week, Musk among other things claimed that Trump should be brought to trial, never had won the presidential election without Musk's help, and that Trump was involved in the investigation into the sex trafficking scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump responded by calling Musk "crazy" and threatening to cancel all government contracts that had gone to Musk's various companies.

The president responded to Musk's apology on Wednesday in a telephone interview with the New York Post. Trump said it was "very nice" done by Musk. However, Trump did not want to comment on whether the apology was sufficient to completely put the incident behind him.
