The children were between 11 and 15 years old, and were playing soccer when the soldiers seized them, according to video clips and family testimonies. The children's bodies bore evidence of torture.
All eleven soldiers received the same prison sentence. Five others, who contributed to the investigation, received 30 months in prison.
During the trial, video clips were used as evidence, including a soldier hitting a child with his rifle and one of the children being shot.
