Police and armed forces in Guyana report that Venezuela has shot at a boat where material for Guyana's upcoming election was being transported.
The incident is reported to have occurred on the Cuyuní river, which is located in the oil-rich and disputed region of Essequibo. The border region has been the center of a territorial dispute between Venezuela and Guyana.
Guyana's election is being held on Monday.
