Congo-Kinshasa reported that on May 27 a patient recovered, left the hospital and returned to the community, Anaïs Legand of the World Health Organization (WHO) says.
She describes it as "the first" confirmed case to end so happily. But the undercount is believed to be very large, both among those who have been infected and those who have recovered.
The Africa CDC has reported 1,077 suspected cases of hemorrhagic fever in this outbreak. Of these, 246 patients have died. However, treatment capacity and testing capabilities remain limited in parts of Congo-Kinshasa, so the actual number of cases could be much higher.
