In the first run of the combination, which was run as a super-G, the downhill skier went out significantly harder than in Monday's super-G.

After the first run, Årsjö led by just over two seconds ahead of Frenchwoman Aurelie Richard.

"I pushed the gas, took everything I had. It was like yesterday when I came down; I wasn't nearly as tired. That says a lot about how I fared yesterday," Årsjö told SVT after the first run.

Went out

Gold contender Varvara Vorontjichina retired and was not allowed to compete in the second run - something Årsjö thought was a shame.

"It's bad for our group, for the sport. I want everyone who is the best to come down - and she had some red sign there, 0.87 behind or whatever it was, so I might have taken her anyway, I think," Årsjö said.

In the second run of the slalom, she once again went out hard and crushed the opposition - and won by seven seconds over second-placed Aurelie Richard.

On Saturday, she beat both Aurelie Richard and Varvara Vorontjichina in the downhill. But in Monday's super-G, it was a bronze for Årsjö, as Vorontjichina took the gold.

Now Årsjö has defended her gold in the combined event from the Paralympics in Beijing 2022.

“Heard many times”

In total, she has won two gold medals and one bronze medal in the Paralympics in Italy, the same result she had four years ago.

"You've heard that many times, those two golds and one bronze. So now I want more, not the same ones," Årsjö told TT.

Årsjö has two competitions left in the Paralympics. On Thursday it's giant slalom and on Saturday she will finish the championships with slalom.

In total, Sweden has won four medals in the Paralympics. In addition to Årsjö's three, Zebastian Modin also won bronze in Tuesday's ski sprint.
