Two Belarusian citizens have been arrested suspected of having flown a drone over the presidential palace in the Polish capital Warsaw.

”The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident”, writes Prime Minister Donald Tusk on X.

The drone is said to have flown over the presidential palace and other government buildings.

It was two employees within the security force that monitors the buildings who spotted the drone, which led to the two drone pilots being apprehended.

The drone was not shot down but was allowed to land after the arrest.

The impression is that this is not something that has flown in from abroad, but rather been sent up locally, says Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz, Minister for Development Funds and Regional Policy, to TVN 24, writes AP.

The incident occurs after tens of Russian military drones last week violated NATO country Poland's airspace. Polish and allied countries' fighter jets were deployed to shoot down the drones.
