Under the night until Thursday, rumors began to spread about explosions and fires at the natural gas plant, also in Russian channels. It is located in the small town of Kotovo, north of Volgograd in the region with the same name.
Ukraine's military leadership says an attack was directed at the gas facility in question, as well as at an oil facility in the region.
The attack has been confirmed to some extent by Volgograd Governor Andrei Botyarov. He reports via social media that a large drone attack occurred in the region and that firefighters have been dispatched to put out fires at various fuel facilities in the aforementioned area.
Ukraine has stepped up drone attacks on Russia's valuable energy network over the past few weeks, which has been followed by a decrease in the country's export revenue.
On the night until Thursday, Russian drones attacked the port and the power grid in the Ukrainian major city of Odessa, which caused a larger power outage.
