A dollar costs just after ten o'clock 9.49 kronor on the currency market. It can be compared to the year's lowest rate of just under 9.45 kronor on June 12, which in turn was the lowest notation since April 2022.
The market reacted clearly to the inflation report, which created uncertainty about what the market previously saw as likely reductions in the Swedish Central Bank's interest rate. Against the dollar, the krona has risen by just over eight öre since the SCB figures, while the increase against the euro is ten öre.
But when it comes to the euro exchange rate – at 11.16 kronor – it is far to go to the krona's peak against the euro at 10.75 kronor in connection with Donald Trump's tariff shock on April 2.
A stronger krona makes Swedish tourists more purchasing-powerful on foreign travel. It also dampens the risk of inflation impulses from the import market, but it simultaneously hits the competitiveness of Swedish export companies.
