A doctor in Örnsköldsvik delayed feedback to a large number of patients and neglected to sign over a thousand medical records. Now, the Health and Healthcare Responsibility Board (HSAN) has decided to withdraw the doctor's licence, reports Örnsköldsviks Allehanda.
The doctor worked at a health centre in the municipality and was reported to the Inspectorate for Healthcare and Welfare last autumn. The authority believes that he repeatedly failed to document patient visits and, on several occasions, missed sending referrals and patient responses. In total, it concerns 1,176 medical records that the doctor failed to sign since at least 2016.
When the problems became known, the doctor was given scheduled time to correct the mistakes that had been made. Despite this, the doctor chose not to perform the tasks assigned to him.
According to HSAN, the doctor continued to make mistakes – despite apologising for them several times. The board therefore decides to withdraw the licence without first giving him a probationary period.
