Heat mass-starts were tested for the first time in the World Cup last season, but were not well received by the skiers.
Norwegian star Astrid Øyre Slind, for example, called it "chaos," according to NTB.
Nevertheless, it is clear that the competition format will remain in place this winter.
It has not been made permanent. But it will be tested on two occasions in the World Cup, said Lars Öberg, cross-country director for the Swedish Ski Association, to TT.
Sweden voted no:
The majority of our active members and management think that the format we already have is good enough and were against it, Öberg said and continued:
There are opinions about whether it is being implemented fairly. We have provided that feedback.
The heat mass start means that the skiers are divided into different fields, where each group runs its own race - and where the overall placing is determined by the finishing time.
