Despite several court rulings stopping President Donald Trump's ordered transfer of imprisoned trans women to male prisons, several individuals have been transferred. This is according to The Guardian, citing stories from prisons and human rights advocates.
Trump ordered in January that "men should not be detained in women's prisons". Twelve imprisoned trans women then filed a lawsuit to stop the decision from being implemented, primarily due to fear of losing medical treatments if they were transferred.
It is primarily trans women who were not part of the lawsuit who are now being transferred, according to The Guardian. Even their gender has been changed in the documents – from woman to man, the newspaper writes.
