Signs, t-shirts, and a member who was thrown out. Donald Trump's political opponents protested during the president's speech to Congress.

It started already in the introduction of Donald Trump's speech. The Speaker of the Congress, Republican Mike Johnson, had to tell democratic members several times to calm down as they booed and screamed inside the chamber.

In the end, Al Green, a democratic congressman from Texas, was thrown out of the chamber after shouting that Trump has no mandate to cut the state-funded health insurance Medicaid.

It was worth it to let people know that there are some who will stand up against the president, says Al Green afterwards according to BBC.

Many democrats held up signs during the speech with different messages on one side - including "Musk steals" and "save Medicaid" - and the word "false" on the other.

Every time Donald Trump boasted about his achievements, they held up the signs.

Lie after lie after lie, someone from the Democratic side of the chamber shouted.

Trump himself devoted part of the speech to his political opponents:

The people sitting here do not want to applaud, do not want to stand up and cheer for these astronomical achievements. It is very sad and should not be like this, he says.

Later, several democratic congressmen took off their jackets, revealing t-shirts with the message "resist" underneath. Then they left the chamber.
