PSG were on the verge of trouble for a while, but snatched a spot in the round of 16 – and now a lot suggests that the French club giant can look forward to the quarterfinals.
Gianluigi Donnarumma almost caused trouble for PSG in the all-French encounter. The Italian national team goalkeeper lifted a back pass and hit Ludovic Ajorque in the head – but the ball sailed over the goal line.
An unfortunate hand by a Brest defender then became a penalty for PSG after a VAR check, and Vitinha calmly rolled in the leading goal.
Brest certainly didn't have the margins on their side. Abdallah Sima nodded against the post just before Ousmane Dembélé delivered the match's performance – an equally elegant as effective solo effort.
The French national team star cut in from the right flank, shot low and cleverly in step, tight against the first post. In the second half, he punctuated the match – and perhaps the meeting – with his 3–0 goal.
The match was played in Guingamp, about eleven miles from Brest, whose home arena does not meet the standards for Champions League matches.
