Delta Goodrem to represent Australia at Eurovision Song Contest this spring

The 41-year-old singer is one of Australia's most famous artists. According to The Guardian, her 2003 debut album "Innocent Eyes" is the country's second-best-selling album of all time and has been in, on average, one in four Australian households.

Australia has previously sent entries by less-established artists, but this year the timing was right for the country's pop queen, who accepted the offer when asked.

"I am honoured to represent Australia on one of the biggest and most iconic stages," Goodrem said in a statement, according to ABC.

Goodrem said the song "Eclipse" is about "the moment when everything falls into place."
