The decline is in line with developments on leading European stock exchanges and is seen as a reaction to President Donald Trump's speech last night. In the speech, the president warned of significant attacks on Iran in the coming weeks.
The worst performer on the OMXS30 list was Lifco, which fell 4.0 percent. The share has thus fallen almost 22 percent since the turn of the year. Other losers included the defense group Saab, which had risen sharply yesterday; its share fell 3.2 percent.
Among others, Handelsbanken bucked the trend, rising 0.8 percent. The telecom companies Telia and Tele2, which traditionally do well during stock market declines, also rose around 0.5 percent.
Volvo Cars, which presented new sales figures, initially fell sharply but closed slightly up, 0.1 percent.
