According to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, three of the four dead were from the same family. Among them was a one-year-old girl. Another person was killed in an airstrike on the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis.
Earlier, the area's Hamas-controlled Civil Defense announced that three people had been killed during the day on Thursday. A source at the Gaza Interior Ministry claims that artillery fire is being heard in Khan Yunis.
On Wednesday, 13 people were killed in the Khan Yunis area and 14 in Gaza City in the northern part of the Strip, according to the Civil Defense. The data was confirmed by local hospitals.
Israel said the airstrikes were a response to Hamas members allegedly firing at Israeli soldiers in Khan Yunis, describing the action as "a violation of the ceasefire agreement."
Hamas, for its part, calls Israel's actions a "dangerous escalation."
The attacks in recent days are among the deadliest since the US-brokered fragile ceasefire began on October 10.
