Qatar condemns what its Foreign Ministry describes as "the brutal attacks by the occupying power Israel in the Gaza Strip."
The deadly Israeli attacks risk undermining the fragile ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, according to Qatar, which, along with the United States, Egypt and Turkey, played a crucial role in the negotiations that led to the ceasefire agreement.
According to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, three of at least four people confirmed dead on Thursday were from the same family. Among them was a one-year-old girl. Another person was killed in an airstrike on the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis.
A source at the Gaza Interior Ministry claims that artillery fire is being heard in Khan Yunis.
On Wednesday, 13 people were killed in the Khan Yunis area and 14 in Gaza City in the northern part of the Strip, according to the Civil Defense. The data was confirmed by local hospitals.
AP reports slightly higher death tolls and writes that four airstrikes were carried out against Khan Yunis and two against Gaza City.
Israel said the airstrikes were a response to Hamas members allegedly firing at Israeli soldiers in Khan Yunis, describing the action as "a violation of the ceasefire agreement."
Hamas, for its part, calls Israel's actions a "dangerous escalation."
