The information about the now-free internet connection comes from Ahmad Ahmadian, head of the American group Holistic Resilience, which works to provide Iranians with free access to the internet.
Those reports are also confirmed by Amir Rashidi, head of the American human rights group Miaan Group, as well as by an anonymous source with connections to Starlink.
Connecting to the satellites requires Starlink terminals, which are banned in Iran. It is unclear how many there are in the country. According to some reports, there are few, but Ahmad Ahmadian states that terminals have been smuggled in and that there are over 50,000.
The space company responsible, SpaceX, has not commented on Bloomberg's report.
Since Thursday, there has been an almost total blockade of telephone and internet services in Iran. At times, the regime has also disrupted contact with satellites - the first time in peacetime, according to the AFP news agency.
