SMHI is expanding to an orange warning for high temperatures in northeastern Västerbotten and parts of eastern Norrbotten. The warning applies from Tuesday until Saturday and temperatures of at least 30 degrees are expected. In some areas, it can reach up to 33 degrees.

The high temperatures will thus persist and SMHI urges to be aware of the body's signals and drink water. The heat can also affect the rail and lead to delays or cancelled departures.

A month's worth of rain

At the same time, a rainstorm is moving over southern Sweden, the same storm that has put all of Denmark on high alert. In some areas, 34 millimeters of rain fell in half an hour on Monday. The storm will move out over southern Götaland on Tuesday, but somewhat weakened – only to pick up again on Wednesday.

SMHI has issued an orange warning for rain similar to cloudbursts throughout the entire Wednesday for parts of southeastern Götaland, where 40–80 millimeters of rain can fall.

Normally, throughout the entire month of July, about 60–70 millimeters of rain usually falls on average in this area, says Linnea Rehn Wittskog, duty meteorologist at SMHI.

According to Linnea Rehn Wittskog, there will be large local variations and it is difficult to specify where and when it will rain the most.

There are large amounts per day, but also large amounts in a short time, she says.

Risk temperature

A yellow warning for rain similar to cloudbursts has also been issued for large parts of eastern Götaland, where 30–60 millimeters of rain can fall.

The recent high temperatures mean that the air can hold more water and therefore there is a risk of larger amounts of rain.

Linnea Rehn Wittskog urges to follow the forecast and weather warnings. If you are going to travel, you should be out in good time and if you have a house, you can prepare by, among other things, cleaning the gutters.

It can also be good to follow the radar, because then you can really see if there will be any heavy shower or not.
