Aaja Chemnitz Larsen, Greenlandic parliamentary representative, views the visit positively and as a beginning of closer cooperation between Greenland and Denmark.

The announcement comes the day after Greenland has got a new government.

— It has come a broad coalition that wishes an enhanced cooperation with Denmark, focusing more on equality between Greenland and Denmark, so the focus will be on that, says Aaja Chemnitz Larsen to TT on site in Nuuk.

— I think that one starts with the defense area and sends a signal to the USA. It is of course Naalakkersuisut (the newly elected Greenlandic government) that sets the framework for what we back up.

Mette Frederiksen is received by, among others, the leader of the new Greenlandic government coalition Jens-Frederik Nielsen, according to a press release from the Danish Prime Minister's office.

"I look forward to continuing the close and trusting cooperation between Greenland and Denmark together with Jens-Frederik Nielsen and the others in Naalakkersuisut", says Frederiksen according to the press release.

"They have my deepest respect, the Greenlandic people and the Greenlandic politicians, for how they handle the great pressure that is put on Greenland", she continues.

The visit takes place between April 2 and 4.
