In both areas, unstable snow is causing problems, according to the Environmental Protection Agency's website Lavinprognoser, which sets the risk level to three on the five-grade scale. This means significant danger.
Especially around the tree line in west-facing terrain, there are very weak snow covers. Steep slopes where snow has accumulated and has been protected from the winds of the past few days are high-risk areas, according to the website.
People are advised to completely avoid steep slopes in zones where forest meets mountain.
The warnings apply until 18:00 on Friday.
In the southern Jämtland Mountains and western Härjedalen Mountains, there is moderate avalanche danger, which means a two on the five-grade scale.
The avalanche danger is divided into a five-grade scale:
1. Low danger. Conditions are generally safe. Snow can be unstable in individual places. Avalanches are unlikely.
2. Moderate danger. Hazardous conditions in parts of the terrain. It is possible for people to trigger avalanches, but spontaneous avalanches are unlikely.
3. Significant danger. Hazardous conditions. It is likely that people will trigger avalanches and spontaneous avalanches are possible.
4. High danger. Very hazardous conditions. Very likely with spontaneous avalanches and people triggering avalanches.
5. Very high danger. Human-triggered and spontaneous avalanches will occur with certainty.
