The cyberattack was discovered on Saturday. According to Miljödata's analysis, 76 of the company's customers may have lost data during a period between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. All affected customers have been informed about this, Miljödata writes in a press release.
The company writes further that "there is nothing that currently indicates that the perpetrator has stolen data".
According to Miljödata, the company's services are expected to be back in operation on Thursday or Friday morning.
Miljödata has, according to several media outlets, been subjected to extortion in connection with the IT attack, which has been reported to the police. The company has been demanded 1.5 bitcoin, equivalent to approximately 1.6 million kronor.
The company has, among other things, a number of municipalities and regions as customers. At lunchtime on Wednesday, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection had received around 250 notifications. Of these, at least 164 municipalities and 4 regions.
A preliminary investigation into gross data intrusion and attempted gross extortion has been initiated after the cyberattack.
"Several investigative measures are ongoing, but due to the secrecy of the preliminary investigation and the sensitive nature of the case, these cannot be described in more detail", says prosecutor Sandra Helgadottir, who is leading the preliminary investigation, in a press release.
