"We have been informed that the Minister of Culture will not be coming, and we have no specific comments on that," says Anna Croneman, CEO of the Swedish Film Institute, in an email.
When the gala is held on Monday, it will be without the minister - she will instead speak at the Gastronomic Academy's awards ceremony, together with, among others, the King and Visit Sweden CEO Susanne Andersson.
At last year's Guldbagge Gala, presenter Shima Niavarani took the opportunity to take a dig at the then Minister of Culture and the government's film policy, which resulted in over 100 complaints. However, the review board found that the features were "of a light-hearted nature" and could not be considered in conflict with the requirements of impartiality.
