The Norwegian royal court announced on Tuesday that Crown Prince Haakon will adjust his schedule going forward to make it easier to spend more time with his wife.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018. Her health has worsened, and she is now on the waiting list for a lung transplant.
Crown Prince Haakon has previously skipped a government meeting to be with the Crown Princess during this period, according to Aftenposten.
The Storting, Norway's equivalent of the Riksdag, has now decided to move forward with an amendment to the constitution so that Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 22, can lead the Council of State and act as deputy for King Harald and Crown Prince Haakon in the future, NTB reports.
In that case, it is Article 41 of the Norwegian Constitution that must be amended.
