Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reported to receive 400 million dollars – tax-free – for his new contract with Saudi al-Nassr. The Portuguese now has a fortune of 1.4 billion dollars (approximately 13.1 billion kronor), which makes him football's first dollar billionaire, according to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg continuously updates its so-called billionaire index over the world's richest people, but it is the first time the news agency examines Cristiano Ronaldo's wealth.

When Ronaldo left Manchester United for the Saudi club al-Nassr at the beginning of 2023, the annual salary is said to have been 200 million dollars and a sign-on bonus of 30 million dollars. This summer, the 40-year-old signed an extension with al-Nassr – a contract that is supposed to be worth 400 million dollars tax-free, according to Bloomberg.

Aside from salary and bonus, Ronaldo can add 175 million dollars in sponsorship revenue to his wealth. He has, for example, a ten-year sponsorship contract with Nike that is worth 18 million dollars per year.

Five years ago, Forbes reported that Ronaldo was the first football player to have earned a total of over a billion dollars during his career, writes the news agency NTB.

Ronaldo has previously during his career also played for major clubs like Juventus and Real Madrid. He has won the Champions League five times.
