Drag queens are not protected by the laws on incitement to hatred against a group of people. This is what Växjö district court has found in a judgment about a comment after a fairy tale hour with drag queens.

When P4 Kronoberg published an entry about story time on Facebook, a man wrote a derogatory comment about "mental illness perversities" that should not be "pressed on our children."

It led to the man, who is in his 45-year-old age, being charged with incitement to hatred against a group. But now he has been acquitted, reports the radio.

The court concludes that the man has made a value statement, but it is unclear what he is negative to. Furthermore, Växjö District Court believes that drag queens dress up in the opposite sex's clothes as artists and that they should therefore not be seen as trans people in the first place. Thus, they are not covered by the law on incitement to hatred against a group, according to the district court.
