The man suffers from advanced dementia and has neither denied nor admitted the charge during the trial.
When home care workers arrived on a planned visit to the couple's shared home in Staffanstorp on September 9 last year, the man said he had killed his partner.
His lawyer has argued that the man cannot be convicted because he lacked intent. However, the Court of Appeal concluded that at the time of the crime he was sufficiently aware of his actions to be convicted of intentional homicide, despite suffering from a serious mental disorder.
The court said in a press release that it agreed.
