In the spring, the Consumer Agency (KO) sued the company Westridge for its advertisement for white, tobacco-free snus on Tiktok.
The KO considered that the humorous advertisement conflicted with the legal requirement of special moderation.
Now, the Patent and Market Court is giving the KO the right and prohibiting the company's advertisement with a fine of half a million kronor, writes the KO in a press release.
It is prohibited to direct advertisements for white snus to people under 25 years old, and the age limit for purchase is 18 years old. Tiktok is largest among young people aged 12-19 years. Therefore, the KO considered that there was a particularly high risk that children and young people were influenced by the snus advertisement.
