The corruption-convicted former biathlon boss Anders Besseberg, 79, is banned for life, announces the International Biathlon Union's integrity department.
The IBU has received support from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in banning Besseberg from all official roles within international biathlon.
"The verdict establishes that Besseberg has acted unethically for a long time, including by accepting inappropriate gifts and benefits and by failing to prevent or challenge unethical methods," it states in the press release.
Last year, Besseberg was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for gross corruption during his time as chairman of the International Biathlon Union. He has denied the crime and appealed the verdict. The appeal will be heard in the court of appeal on April 23.
He has also previously been stripped of his honorary membership in the Norwegian Sports Confederation.
