With only a few hours left, the convicted murderer is withdrawing his appeal. The sentence – 14 years in prison and then deportation – remains.

It has not been easy for him to make this decision, but he has come to realize that it's not worth risking many more years in prison, says his defense lawyer Christian Forslind to Gefle Dagblad.

It was in March that the shooter was convicted in Gävle District Court. He himself claimed to be only 15 years old and tried to prove it with a letter from the doctor who delivered him.

However, the National Board of Forensic Medicine's assessment suggested that he was older than 15 and even over 18.

According to the District Court, it was not entirely clear that he had turned 18 at the time of the murder, and therefore he could not receive a life sentence.

The murder occurred on the night of the 28th of July last year, when the shooter fired shots at two men outside the club after closing time.

The 23-year-old, who has been pointed out by the police as a leading figure in one of the criminal networks in the city, was hit by eleven shots and died. The other man was hit in the leg.
