Hoi publishing house has been declared bankrupt by the Stockholm District Court. Its CEO hopes to continue operations, SVT Kulturnyheterna reports.

Among the creditors who have filed claims in the bankruptcy is the Swedish Tax Agency, which is demanding 1.8 million kronor from the disputed book publisher's Swedish operations.

Hoi is a so-called hybrid publisher that has offered writers the opportunity to publish their books and receive help with editing and marketing in return for payment. The Swedish Writers' Association warned in spring 2025 against entering into an agreement with the publisher because of non-payment of royalties to authors.

CEO Lars Rambe said in a press release that the parent company In My Honest Opinion (IMHO) Intermedia has applied for corporate restructuring and hopes to continue operating.
