The gold has been seized. It is unclear where it came from, and prosecutors are opening an investigation.
Everything right now points to some kind of fraudulent activity and that the gold has been hidden here, says Hillaert.
People are advised not to visit the site in search of more gold. The police have already turned the building upside down, the Dendermonde police announced.
