The coalition parties oppose the Constitutional Committee's review of the Landerholm affair being resumed. This is to protect Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party), according to the Social Democrats. It is remarkable, says S member Jennie Nilsson.

The Social Democratic Party wants the Riksdag to continue the investigation into the events surrounding the former national security adviser Henrik Landerholm.

The issue was raised in the Constitutional Committee (KU) in the spring, but was paused in connection with Landerholm being prosecuted for negligence with secret information.

He was acquitted in the district court but the case is being appealed and the court of appeal proceedings will likely not be held until after the election next year.

The Social Democratic Party: It is incomprehensible

The Social Democratic Party wants the KU, which investigates ministers' actions, to let officials collect material in order to proceed with an examination of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. But the government parties say no to letting officials do this, citing that it is an ongoing legal process.

One refuses the opposition to get a basis for decision, which in my book is remarkable and incomprehensible. It should be in their interest as well, says KU's chairman Jennie Nilsson (The Social Democratic Party).

Her view is that the investigation can and should be resumed before the election since there is such a great public interest in the matter. There are also examples of when the KU has investigated issues in parallel with other authorities.

The government parties and the Sweden Democrats are very keen on Ulf Kristersson not being examined, says Nilsson.

The Moderate Party: Political game

KU's vice chairman Mats Green (The Moderate Party) says in a written comment that the investigation will of course be resumed when there is a legally binding judgment.

"This is desperate action by The Social Democratic Party and Magdalena Andersson. We cannot have an order where the KU changes principle just because The Social Democratic Party now wants to make political games of legal processes."
