With 99.8 percent of the votes counted, the presidential election appears headed for a second round. The right-wing candidate loyal to Donald Trump, Abelardo de la Espriella, is expected to face left-wing senator Iván Cepeda, who is allied with Gustavo Petro.
According to the latest figures, de la Espriella leads with 44 percent of the vote while Cepeda has 41 percent.
But the result is now being questioned by both outgoing President Gustavo Petro and Cepeda.
"As president, I do not accept the result," Petro writes in a post on X, claiming that hundreds of thousands of votes were added incorrectly.
