Christiansen joined the club for the first time nine years ago and returned to MFF after a shorter period in Belgium in 2018.
With him on the team, Malmö FF has racked up Allsvenskan gold and achieved successes in Europe, including group play in the Champions League.
In the spring of 2023, he made other headlines. Christiansen collapsed on the pitch during training. When he needed to have a type of pacemaker implanted, no one was sure if he would be able to play football again.
Less than a year later, he was back, and in 2024, he made crucial contributions in both Allsvenskan and European play.
Sixth SM gold
He was part of the team that won Allsvenskan for the sixth time.
Now, Malmö FF and Anders Christiansen have agreed on a new contract that spans the next two seasons.
"It feels very good that we are in agreement and that he is staying with the club. 'AC' is an incredibly important player for us. On the pitch, he has unique qualities, and off the pitch, he is a fantastic leader who puts the club above all," says sports manager Daniel Andersson in a press release.
"A happy family"
Anders Christiansen:
"I am very happy to sign a new contract. It is news that I myself have been waiting to talk about, and I really look forward to the coming seasons. It has been clear and obvious that it would be an extension."
"It was also a wish from my partner and son that it would be an extension with Malmö FF, so it is a happy family that is signing the contract today. First and foremost, I believe that I can become better at Malmö FF. Then I also believe that the club can take bigger steps and be part of that development is incredibly inspiring," he says in a press release.
