An export license from Chinese authorities is expected to arrive earlier this week, after which the company Aumovio – previously part of the Continental group – has resumed deliveries of semiconductors and components from Nexperia, according to the company's CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt.
He adds that it will take time to get everything in place for production and distribution again and warns of operational disruptions for the next 4-6 weeks. China's Ministry of Commerce lifted Nexperia's export ban on Friday, he added.
Aumovio, which makes sensors, brakes and steering systems for cars, has factories in China. Its customers include automotive giants Volkswagen, BMW and Stellantis. The data is a sign that the impasse over the European car industry's shortage of Nexperia components is about to be resolved.
Bloomberg has previously reported that the Dutch government is in the process of reversing its decision from October to take control of the European-based but Chinese company Nexperia.
