We want to take responsibility for giving Swedish liberalism a fresh start, party secretary Hannes Hervieu said at a press conference together with Birgitta Ohlsson.
Ohlsson was a top name in the People's Party, now the Liberal Party, until the 2010s. She is now a parliamentary candidate for C.
The party believes that today's L does not have much to contribute to strengthening liberalism, due to its collaboration with the Sweden Democrats.
Birgitta Ohlsson says that during her time outside party politics she has seen that C has been a driving force for liberalism in Europe. Ohlsson will lead the working group together with Hervieu.
One task will be to attract more people with liberal values to the party and make C their "political home".
