Increased trade policy tensions and the uncertainty surrounding how this will affect the global economy have made Swedish companies increasingly pessimistic.
This is shown by the Swedish Central Bank's corporate survey for May. Companies with sales to households are also warning that they plan to raise their prices due to increased purchase costs, according to the survey.
"Even the construction companies' future confidence has been dampened as a result of the prevailing uncertainty. They point out that it will take longer than they previously thought before demand in the housing market picks up", the Swedish Central Bank writes in a press release.
