The Center Party is now reorganizing its election campaign and is focusing entirely on attracting undecided centrist voters in the final sprint. The large lead for the opposition parties over Tidösidan in several opinion polls means that C is making the “Centre Alternative” even clearer.
If Tidö crashes, they haven't said they can't do anything else after the election, says Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist.
KD leader Ebba Busch, who herself has flirted with S leader Magdalena Andersson on various issues, has, however, been clear that KD is campaigning for continued Tidö cooperation. But Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist believes that the message could change after the election.
"Our alternative is perceived as much more reasonable now. We've been talking about this middle option since January, but back then it sounded so unreasonable that no one was interested," she says.
“Completely misconceived”
The Green Party's spokesperson Amanda Lind thinks that the arrangement is completely misconceived by C.
"I am surprised that people have an idea for a right-wing government and are ready to sell out the climate for that dream," she tells Aftonbladet.
It is unreasonable that the Center Party and Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist believe that a government with the Christian Democrats would be good for the climate.
In SVT/Verian's latest opinion poll, C increased to 8 percent. Thand Ringqvist believes that one reason for the rise is that many centrist voters, just like C, do not want to give influence to V and SD.
For both C and V, it is now important to become the larger party, in order to weigh more heavily in any upcoming government negotiations with S leader Magdalena Andersson. According to the parties, this could determine whether a new government leans to the right or left.
C insists that the party cannot support a government that includes V, which is a clear demand from V. The parties' red lines are completely at odds and complicate Magdalena Andersson's government formation.
“Not on the table”
Thand Ringqvist does not answer the question of whether she also says no to budget cooperation with V in a possible government document.
"V is so super clear that they will sit in government, so that option is not on the table today," she says.
C's middle option is based on the parties involved agreeing on a number of projects that will, among other things, lead to more jobs and reduced emissions. Another requirement is to introduce a new target in the fiscal policy framework, a growth target of at least 2.5 percent over a business cycle.
