Anyone who has paid at least 500,000 kronor in taxes over five years should be able to apply for citizenship after five years of residence, instead of the eight years proposed by the government.
A fast track not only strengthens integration but also makes Sweden more competitive in the fight for skilled labour, according to the party's integration policy spokesperson, Niels Paarup-Petersen.
The Center Party wants to see a system that encourages work, integration and personal responsibility, he said.
The party believes that today's stricter requirements risk affecting people who are already established and doing the right thing.
