Tareq Taylor was invited to TV4's afternoon program on Monday to talk about his new cookbook. Parts of the interview came to deal with the ongoing situation in Gaza.
The chef, host and former Christmas host Taylor, who has Palestinian roots, expressed criticism that the government does not call Israel's warfare in Gaza a genocide.
When we see a genocide being committed before our eyes, which has been going on for much longer than these two years, then one must be able to say what it is. I am deeply concerned and disappointed with how the Swedish government has handled this, he says.
Taylor says in the interview that Sweden "today stands with one of the weakest leaders we have ever had". He turns directly to Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) and speaks into the camera:
It's a shame for this government right now. Ulf Kristersson, if you see me: Be ashamed.
After the interview, Tareq Taylor shared a clip from "Efter fem" on Instagram with the text:
"With a wish that our Sweden will once again stand for human rights for all! Regardless of where you come from. And that injustices and crimes should be called out regardless of who commits them."
