It is the third day that the negotiations are ongoing after having begun on Sunday. The parties, however, do not speak directly with each other but with the help of mediators.
A high-ranking Israeli official states on Tuesday that "80-90 percent" of the agreement with Hamas has been reached, but that the negotiations can be expected to continue for a few more days, reports the newspaper Haaretz.
The details of the proposal for a ceasefire, apart from it being a 60-day long ceasefire, are still unclear. According to reports, it includes, among other things, that Hamas releases a number of the Israeli hostages in Gaza in exchange for Israel releasing a number of Palestinian prisoners.
The negotiations will take time, according to Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"I do not think I can give any timeline right now, but I can say that we will need time for this", says the spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari on Tuesday.
