Two people on board were injured and two others are missing after Monday's attack on the Greek-owned vessel Eternity C.
The vessel was heading north towards the Suez Canal when it was fired upon by men in small boats and with bomb-carrying drones, according to the EU's naval operation "Operation Atlanta" which combats pirates in the region.
According to the EU operation, the Houthi movement is behind the attack, which took place in the same area as the one on Sunday – about ten miles southwest of the Yemeni and Houthi-controlled port city of al-Hudaydah. The Greek-owned vessel Magic Seas was attacked in a similar manner on Sunday and its crew had to leave the ship as it took in water.
The Houthi movement has carried out attacks on civilian shipping in the area after the Gaza war broke out. The two attacks are the first against commercial shipping in the area in a while.
The new attacks come at a sensitive time in the region, as a possible ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas is being weighed, at the same time as Iran is considering resuming talks on nuclear energy with the US after the twelve-day war with Israel.
