"The situation has turned positive. Now things are starting to go in the direction we want. It also helped that it rained during the night. The fire that was heading towards the building has been extinguished," the municipality said in an update on its website.
The fire broke out at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. NRK reported that 450 people were evacuated, but there were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighting will continue on Wednesday, including helicopters.
