Forenede care is with its 55 elderly care homes Sweden's third largest care company. DN has reported on misconduct: Among other things, how the elderly have not had their teeth brushed for months and about a demented person who disappeared from a home without the staff noticing.
A woman was forced to amputate a leg after slipping and lying in a bathroom with running hot water, an accident that was not discovered in time to save the leg.
The company has been fined by Österåker municipality for deficiencies in care hygiene – the municipality has no further planned measures against the company since improvements have been made. The Work Environment Authority has also imposed a fine on the company after the union turned to the authority due to high workload and low staffing.
CEO Madeleine Lundström has not wanted to answer questions about the deficiencies, instead referring to written comments from the company's communications manager.
The company has responded to the newspaper in general terms.
"We have an ongoing dialogue with relatives, municipalities, and supervisory authorities to ensure that we meet our high standards. When something fails, we follow up, analyze the causes, and take measures to ensure that it does not recur”
Now the CEO is leaving. But according to the company, the change of position has nothing to do with DN's investigation.
”The CEO change is a planned shift that has nothing to do with your investigation. We do not comment on personnel matters in detail”, writes communications manager Roy Sundvall in an SMS to the newspaper.
